Currently we are working with the NI Tourist Board, hopefully on the way to getting some Tourism Development Scheme funding for Garvaghey. Our application, which has passed ‘Stage 1’ of the application process is currently undergoing a more detailed appraisal. We have asked NITB for support re the environmental area at Garvaghey; re the outdoor events/performance space; re a children’s play area; and re the audio-visual fitting out of the conference facilities. We are also putting together an application to the Heritage Lottery Fund for support re the display/interpretation elements that will be a central feature of the Garvaghey building. Finally, another application is also being worked on, this time to ARC North-West and the Rural Development Programme for help towards the 3G pitch at Garvaghey. After all of that it gives us no pleasure to report that DCAL and Sport NI remain totally conspicuous by their absence from any support whatsoever for what is currentlyIreland’s largest sports/culture/heritage capital project.
