Scór Sinsear has returned again to its normal place in the GAA calendar from a trial period when Scór na nÓg and Scór Sinsear interchanged. It has returned to the ‘winter activity’ in this severely over charged GAA calendar. There are many culture, language, music, song, drama and dance patrons in the GAA who welcome this return. Coiste Cultúir agus Teanga have also welcomed and embraced the return to previous way in which Scór was administered. Whereas it is widely accepted that Scór, especially Scór Sinsear, is in a era of decline, Tír Eoghain, as one of the major success stories of the ideal, are currently engaged in a genuine effort to enhance the revival of the Scór competitions here locally.
Last night the first of the Tír Eoghain semi finals of Scór Sinsear took place in St Joseph’s Hall in Killeenan hosted by the Kildress Wolfe Tones GAC, targeted at the clubs in East Tyrone. Kildress have long since been ardent supporters of the Scór ideal. Tomorrow night the second semi final will take place in The Patrician Hall in Carrickmore hosted by the local An Charraig Mhór N Comcille club, another great supporter of the Scór movement. We expect a major effort from many of the West Tyrone clubs to help with this revival effort.
The County Final of this year’s competition will be held in the central location of St Joseph’s Hall in Omagh on Sunday 10th March beginning at 4.00 pm with the Tráth na gCeist competition. This event will follow the same format as the event in October 2023 which will be in table quiz format and following a previously advertised subject topics. The remainder of the final programme will begin at 5.00 pm. The event will be hosted by the Tattyreagh St Patrick’s GAC. Tattyreagh are one of three GAA clubs based in the Omagh area and while it has been a few years since Tattyreagh hosted this event you can have no doubt they will make a fine job of it and provide an entertaining evening’s programme.
So why not help with the revival of Scór Sinsear and come along to St Joseph’s Hall in Omagh on 10th March at 4.00 pm and enjoy a super evening of Irish culture, music, song, dance and drama.
