Health and Wellbeing services on offer at IFC & JFC Finals

Tir Eoghain GAA are proud to once again be including Health and Wellbeing as part of the programme at the IFC & JFC finals days this weekend. Present on the day will be volunteers from the Samartans team providing information on their valuable service. Samartans are the national charity partner of the GAA and Tir Eoghain are proud to be supporting them.
Also on our club finals days we are working again with QUB 4th medical students SWOT (Students Working Overseas Trust)
SWOT is a charity that was set up over 35years ago, and is now exclusively run by 4th year medical students. Since its establishment it is estimated that over £1 million has been raised for Third World hospitals where 4th year students spend their summer elective. Those who take placement in third world countries then deliver all money raised by the society to where it is needed most. doing this erases the middleman, saving on shipping and governmental costs, ensuring that 100% of the money raised is going directly to where it will make a difference.
Last year the 4th year students raised £58,000 using various ways and means. Holding blood pressure clinics like the one held on senior club final day in Healy Park.
Tir Eoghain GAA Health and Wellbeing subcommittee are delighted to be hosting this valuable health promotion and screening service for our Gaels while raising valuable funds for developing health systems in poorer countries.
We would encourage you to take 2 minutes and get your blood pressure taken for a small donation. Last year we had several people who were unaware of their high blood pressure and were immediately referred to their GPs. It can only help!!!!
