Tyrone have announced their squad for Saturday’s Christy Ring Cup encounter with Wicklow, as they look to build momentum in the All-Ireland series.
After what was a disappointing Allianz League campaign that ended in relegation Tyrone return to action in the championship.
Stephen Mc Garry’s new look side face Wicklow in the first round of the Christy Ring Cup and it’s been a season of mixed fortunes so far. The Garden County missed out on promotion from Division Three on the last day of the league.
Now these counties will both be trying to establish themselves at Christy Ring level, having been promoted via Nicky Rackard Cup victories in 2022 (Tyrone) and 2023 (Wicklow). The sides met at Carrickmore last year with the Red Hands coming out on top.
Aidy Kelly was the main marksman for Tyrone through the NHL while there’s a clutch of new faces starting to shine. Wicklow will be looking to Seánie Germaine and Pádraig Doyle to continue their free-scoring form with home advantage a big boost in this opening round.
Conall Molloy starts in goals for the Red Hands, behind a full-back line of Dean Rafferty, Fionn Devlin, and Ronan Molloy. Lorcan Devlin and Tiernan Morgan flank Cormac Munroe in a dynamic half-back line, while the midfield partnership of Sean Duffin and Seamus Sweeney will be key to Tyrone’s hopes in the middle third.
Aidan Kelly, Ciaran Magill, and Michael Little form an energetic half-forward line, with Branán Molloy, Kiefer Morgan, and Turlough Mullin spearheading the attack.
There’s a strong mix of youth and experience among the substitutes, including the likes of Ruairi Devlin, Corey Bell, Aidan Woods and Rory Weir, offering depth for the battle ahead.
Throw-in at Echelon Park, Aughrim, is scheduled for 1pm on Saturday. Tickets are available to purchase online, visit tireogha.in/sudyk5
