Tyrone TV Launch!

Tyrone GAA is delighted to announce an exciting new venture that will see this weekend’s Championship games reported on the internet.
Web video journalist Jerome Quinn will team up with Killyclogher cameraman Kieran McMullen to record all eight games in the WJ Dolan Senior and Intermediate competitions. The material will then be compiled into short video reports which will be uploaded onto the Tyrone county website at www.tyronegaa.ie
“This is a way of providing much-deserved profile for some fantastic games”, says Omagh man Jerome. “Fans will be able to watch the best of Tyrone football in neatly packaged reports on the web”.
The idea has already been trialled on the Armagh county website where video reports on Crossmaglen’s shock defeat last weekend drew an unprecedented number of hits.
“More people watched those videos than any others from the entire Ulster Senior Football Championship throughout the Summer, which shows both the incredible interest in club games and the increasing popularity of web video.
“I also feel that this service will fill a void because these matches are not getting much television coverage. When you think about it, players like Ricey McMenamin and Joe McMahon were on Live TV just a few weeks ago in Croke Park, yet now when they return to their clubs the profile is seriously diminished”.
Belfast Audio-Visual company Niavac are the main backers of the project, providing camera equipment and expertise. Their Managing Director is James Conlon, another Tyrone native.

Tyrone PRO Damian Harvey is confident that the tantalising prospect of eight games over a bumper weekend of Championship fare will give gaels a lift after the All Ireland disappointment and that the video venture will help bring the best of the action to the widest possible audience.
“People will be able to watch these reports all over the world, as well as here at home. We in Tyrone are always determined to move forward, to embrace new ideas and to be the best we can be. This project will reflect the strength and quality of club football in the county, and we’re particularly delighted that it involves experts and backers who are from Tyrone”.
Video reports will appear on the Tyrone website from Monday morning and will continue throughout the week.
Before then, web users can watch reports from the First Round games involving Errigal Ciaran v Donaghmore and Ardboe v Moy, as well as interviews looking ahead to the quarter-finals.
